Every once in a while I get to do a session that, as soon as I hear about it I can’t stop thinking about it. It just so happens that Dulce and Bryan got engaged one a stretch of river that my family had been rafting for years, so as soon as they told me that they wanted to go back to the camp spot where Bryan proposed to do their engagement photos I was all in! It had been years since I had been to the black rocks area, and Kyle had never been. To say we were excited would be an understatement!
And the more I thought about it, the more I loved the area. There is something so unique and inspiring about staging the beginning of a new life chapter surrounded by rocks that have been around longer than anything else around them. They have weathered so many floods, droughts, and everything in between, but still they stand. They survived the elements and took everything that mother nature had to throw at them, and yet, it is their presence that shapes where the river flows. In the end, they always stand strong.
Dulce and Bryan, thank you so much for inviting us on this adventure with you! We have been so blessed to get to know you over the last few years and we are already counting the days until you finally get to say your vows! But until then, thank you for braving the weather, the heat and the bugs with us. And thank you for being a reminder of just how strong love can be when you find your rock.
